Case Insensitive search in OBIEE11g

11.16.2011, OBIEE MISC, by .

As you all know we had a limitation for case iNsenSitive search for multiselect  prompt in OBIEE 10g (Later Oracle released a patch for this).

Now in OBIEE11g you can enable this feature we need to modify instanceconfig.xml and NQSconfig.ini files as shown below:

1. Add the following command in instanceconfig.xml: located in

/<MW_HOME>/instances/instance1/config/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1

<ServerInstance>

————-

<QueryManager>

<CaseInsensitiveMode>true</CaseInsensitiveMode>

</QueryManager>

——-

</ServerInstance>

Save Instanceconfig.xml file.

2. Open the Nqsconfig.INI located in /<MW_HOME>/instances/instance1/config/OracleBIServerComponent/coreapplication_obis1 and search for CASE_SENSITIVE_CHARACTER_COMPARISON and change this values to OFF as shown below.

CASE_SENSITIVE_CHARACTER_COMPARISON = OFF;

Save NQSconfig.ini file.

3. Restart the OPMN services (All OBIEE services).

Now check the same with multiselect prompt with some string and you should get the values irrespective of  case what you have given.

    Hi!
    Everytime I change Instanceconfig.xml and restart obiee services, it can not start coreapplication_obips1.
    I put Instanceconfig.xml to its defaults and restart obiee services without a problem.

    I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0.

    • do you have the DHCP client running in windows services?? If yes, stop it and re-insall. it might fix the problem.

      or

      check if your system has Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. if not install it.
